Assumption's Parish Council
Council members serve as the pastor's "eyes, ears, and voice" of the parish. They contribute ideas to promote the needs of the parish and work with other members and the pastor in providing leadership and direction with an open mind in unity with the goals and needs of the parish community.
The purpose of the council is to advise the pastor on fostering the pastoral activity and welfare of the parish. According to the Code of Canon Law, Canon 536, paragraph 2, "The pastoral council possesses a consultative vote only and is governed by norms determined by the diocesan bishop."
Parish Council members serve three years on the council which meets on the third Monday of each month from September through June at 7:30 in the parish center.
The council consists of two appointed trustees and twleve elected members. Each year four of the elected members' terms expire and four new members are elected. The meetings are open to all interested parishioners.
